Full Text
Deserting The 'Satrap'.—Grant is fast being scratched out of Democratic books. The Democracy were willing to swallow Grant a few weeks ago, and the Pittsburg Post went so far as to recommend the dissolution of the Democratic party, if the Republicans nominated him, in order to afford the Democracy a chance to support the "Satrap." But a thorough endorsement of Sheridan's slashing statesmanship, and a distinct disavowal of Stanbery's views, are pills too bitter for even the least squeamish of Democrats to digest. Grant has made this endorsement and disavowal. This kills the "Satrap" in the estimation of the Democracy.
