ALASKA HOTELS ARE DOING BIG BUSINESS

(Ketchikan Times)

Manager E. C. Howard of the Steadman Hotel this morning received message from Manager Glenn Bartlett of the Hotel Gastineau at Juneau which reads in part as follows:

"Business great; people are sleeping in hallways and every available cot is working.

The hotel is running from one hundred and thirty to one hundred and fifty guests daily. Tell the guests to be sure and wire reservations a week ahead here as we want to take care of Ketchikanites if possible."

Referring to the message, Mr. Howard remarked:

"You know, while I am not keen on boosting Juneau, it is remarkable what business all the towns in Southeastern Alaska are doing, especially the hotels. Why here last night and for the past three weeks, we have not had an empty room in the house and have had to send the surplus to the Tongass Building and the Hoover rooms and yet have more calls."
