Continued Shipment of Bullion from the Silver Nugget and Mexican Golden Eagle and Townsend Mills, and Near Completion of the Our Correspondent Visits the Pioneer South Mine, and is Highly Pleased.

GLOBE CITY, August 23.

Editor Citizen: Everything in and around Globe is moving along as usual. Work is being vigorously prosecuted on all our best properties. The Nugget and Mexican mill are still keeping up their regular shipments of bullion, and the near completion of the Townsend and Golden Eagle mill will add greatly to the value of our shipments in the future.

The Emeline mine is now shipping 15 tons of ore per day, that will average $350 per ton, and the Nugget and Mack Morris are in a measure like the little mare "Maud S.," never fail when called on; so that everything is still booming.

In order to thoroughly appreciate a visit to the Pioneer South mine, the starting point should be from Globe, and then having the owner, T. J. Newland, for a guide, you would find the trip over the Pinal mountains very pleasant. The Pioneer South is located on the south side of the mountains, 18 miles south of Globe, which would bring it about eight miles east of Mineral Creek. An item very much in its favor is that it lies in the main gulch that leads out of this side of the mountains, which would give it the benefit of almost the entire drainage of the range. This at once satisfies anyone that the water supply is sufficient for all mining and milling purposes, and the location is such that it is included in the 1500 by 600 feet.

A glance at the pine timber on the mountain side, and the smaller trees below the pines, which can be used as fuel, places the Pioneer South, in my estimation, as being the best located and most accessible property that I have ever visited in this Territory, as the wagon road from Florence to Globe lies but three miles south. The principal part of the claim lies on the west side of this gulch, and the vein has been opened by five shafts, ranging from 25 to 80 feet in depth, and they expose a continuous ore body 600 feet in length. The width of this ore body (which is of exceedingly high grade) averages 20 inches, and the mineral in the croppings shows a width of about 20 feet. The width of the entire vein is difficult to determine. The croppings are exposed over 200 feet in width, and I am confident that the vein at the depth of 500 feet will show a width of not less than 300. The vein is continuous and has been traced and located for several miles, and this location being the only one showing this high-grade mineral is very convincing proof that here is the main chimney or ore chute of this immense vein. This development is on the northeast end, and as they work southwest the ore improves in quantity and quality, showing the main body to lie in or about the center of the claim. The formation here is blue granite intermingled with belts of slate, and the general trend of these slate belts is northeast and southwest, which places them parallel with the vein.

I have had occasion since my arrival in this Territory to examine all the principal mines in this portion of the Territory, and I pronounce the Pioneer South to be the largest and best showing prospect for an immense big mine of any that I have visited, and after taking into consideration its location, the abundance of water, timber, wood, and its close proximity to the main thoroughfare, I am confident that it is destined in the near future to rank as high in the estimation of others as it does now in mine.

There are various other locations in this immediate vicinity, but none having the amount of development that this one has; still, several have a splendid showing for the amount of work that has been done on them.
