Balloon Ascension.—A balloon ascent was made at Louisville, Ky., on the 13th inst. by Mr. Kirkby. "In less than a minute," says the Louisville Advertiser, "he was at least half a mile high, nearly over the heads of the crowd, and in four minutes he appeared to be four or five miles distant, and to have attained an altitude of one or one and a half miles. He continued in sight twenty-five or thirty minutes—When last seen, he was pursuing his rapid flight nearly in the direction of Jeffersontown, (about a point south of east.) and was probably ten or twelve miles from the point at which he started."
