City Attorney McGuire was in Marysville, Kans., Monday, returning home last evening.

Charles Lewis of Montana, one-time resident of Beatrice, will arrive in the city this week on business and to visit with old friends.

Thomas Liddicott, who has been engaged in the shoe business in the Allen block for a number of years, has rented a room in the Buchanan block on East Court street which he will occupy for the present. The Beatrice State bank expects to begin remodeling the building soon and will occupy the room to be vacated by Mr. Liddicott, including its present quarters.
John Gouff of Holmesville spent Monday night in the city, returning home Tuesday.

City Attorney McGuire of Wymore was looking after business in the city Monday afternoon.

Miss Virginia James, who has been visiting in the city with friends, left Monday evening for her home at Nevada, Mo.

Irvin Adams, a barber of this city, was called to Downs, Kans., Monday afternoon by a telegram announcing the serious illness of his father.

F. C. Crocker of the Filley vicinity was in town Monday on business.

Lester Boggs of this city expects to go to Franklin, Nebr., this week where he will be employed in a dance orchestra during the summer months at Senter park, a summer resort. The orchestra will play five nights each week. The Senter park is the only one of its kind in southwest Nebraska and has one of the largest artificial swimming pools in the state. A one-mile dirt track was completed recently and automobile races will be staged there this summer. Mr. Boggs is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Boggs, living on East Bell street, this city.

Jefferson Benninger, who has been visiting with relatives in this county, returned to his home at San Jose, Ill., Tuesday.

Claude Peterson of Marysville, Kans., was a business caller in this city Tuesday.

Harrison Elliott, secretary of the Beatrice Chamber of Commerce, and A. H. Gray, who attended the state convention of the Goldenrod highway, returned home Tuesday.

Miss Edith Child has returned from a visit with her parents at Wymore.

Oliver Sarber, who has been visiting in the city with his family, has returned to Lincoln. He is employed in a barber shop there and reports that he likes his position.

A number of traveling men who headquarter in the city, abandoned their cars at several small towns along the route Monday on account of the rainstorm, and took the train for Beatrice, being unable to cover their territory until the highways dry up.

A. J. Earl of Wymore is a Beatrice visitor.

E. W. Starlin of Filley was a county seat visitor Tuesday.

E. E. Birdsey, representative of the Goodrich Tire company, has moved to this city from Omaha to make his home and will occupy the property at 400 West Court street. He just returned from Akron, Ohio, where he attended the two weeks convention of the Goodrich company.

Wil Eyler, one-time resident of Beatrice, was in the city Tuesday drumming up business in the cigar line. Mr. Eyler was formerly employed as clerk at the Paddock hotel.

William Stevens of Nebraska City was a Beatrice visitor Tuesday.

M. J. Regan of Kansas City was in town Tuesday.

G. L. Smith of York was among the arrivals in the city Tuesday.

Lester Crothwell of Havelock was transacting business in the city Tuesday.

Mrs. H. C. Leech left Monday for LeFayette, Ind., where she was called by the illness of her aunt.

H. Howard Bigger of the Daily Drovers' Journal, of Omaha, was in the city Tuesday on business. Mr. Bigger is visiting some of the Gage county farms, in company with County Agent Boyd Rist.

Theo Jackson has returned from a business trip of a few days to Omaha. He formerly owned half interest in the Nu-Way cafe.

M. L. Smith of Omaha is a Beatrice visitor.

Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Lawler of Omaha spent Monday in the city with friends, returning home today.

W. W. Marts of Auburn was looking after business in the city Tuesday.

W. H. Jewell of DeWitt was shaking hands with friends on the streets here Tuesday. He reports that the DeWitt locality is well wet down because of the recent heavy rains.

Art Murdock of DeWitt, who has been visiting in the city, has returned home. He formerly resided at this place.
James Burnham, old resident of Wymore, and editor of the Wymorean, was in the city Tuesday.

City Attorney McGuire of Wymore was looking after business in the city Tuesday.

R. L. White of Odell was in the city Tuesday, making the trip by truck. He reports that the roads are drying up, but are yet in pretty bad condition.
