Bank Will Name Winners at Dinner
Pasture and soil improvement contest, sponsored by Union Bank and Trust Company of Amelia, in cooperation with the county agent and soil conservationist has closed.
Only three of the original 28 entries failed to carry through their program.
Two full days were required of the judges, visiting each farm entered in the contest. J. C. Green, area supervisor of vocational agriculture, of Powhatan, and Richard S. Ellis, county agent, of Buckingham judged the farms and selected the winners.
E. L. Wood, county agent and P. B. Childress and James C. Burnett, soil conservationists, together with a representative of the bank, accompanied the judges on their tour of the county.
The sponsor plans to have dinner meetings for farms who participated in the contests and their wives. Winners will be announced and cash prizes awarded at the dinner. A suitable program will be arranged for the meeting which will be held early in 1954.
