CHICAGO (UNP)—Listed as a suicide and murder, a man and his wife were found dead in their bedroom last week by a landlady who went to determine why the wife, a laundress, had forgotten her lunch.
Both William Reese, 30, and his wife Pearl, 30, of 2951 Wabash Avenue, died from bullets fired from the same gun, police reported. The wife died instantly from a wound in the right temple. While the husband shot himself in the right temple.
Mrs. Hollinshade, the landlady described the Reeses as a model couple and knew of no reason for the suicide and murder. She also disclosed that at approximately 7 o'clock she had heard a noise like the slamming down of a trunk lid. She heard the same sound several times, the landlady disclosed.
Reese had been employed as a loop mechanic for several years. His wife worked in a hospital laundry at 26th and Dearborn St.
