Full Text

"The Globe," the official federal government paper, distinguished above its contemporaries for its blind subserviency to the cabal which controls the administration, and disgusting flattery of its corrupt and weak nominal head—for its low billingsgate and revolting blackguardism, is crowding the public mail under the frank of honorable Members of Congress, with the view to influence the votes of the people in favor of the man through whose sufferance their money is squandered upon the favorites and partisans of the powers that be. And we see it proposed to issue an extra from this affiliated press, which is to be forced upon the people, nolens volens. Has it come to this, that an administration cannot stand upon its own merits, but must be driven to such resorts to compel the support of the people? The time has then come when the president must send forth a newspaper under his own eye, to proclaim his own merits to a people whose confidence he has abused and forfeited.

Look out for a "Gull Trap."
