Full Text

The New York Times says Messrs Vallandigham and Pendleton, with others, "who recently met in Ohio as a Democratic State Convention, have just sent forth a challenge to any body to discuss with them the question of slavery, they affirming it to be the proper condition for the negroes of the South."

That is pretty cool, when we consider that we have had no Democratic State Convention in Ohio this year, and that Messrs Vallandigham and Pendleton have put their names to no address whatever concerning the status of slavery. So far as they are concerned, the article in the Times is a falsehood made out of whole cloth.

Of course.
