Full Text
LONDON, June 21.
Lord Townshend's Marriage with Miss Montgomery so piqued the Pride of his Mother, the Lady Dowager, that one Morning, during an Interview with her Son, burst into Tears, and exclaimed at the Folly of his Conduct. Lord Townshend tried every Method to soothe her Grief; he begged her to be composed, for, "Dear Madam (said he) why should you shed Tears at my Marriage?" "Why indeed (replied his Mother, recollecting herself) it is ridiculous in me to cry at what all the World laughs at."
