A report recently compiled by the county superintendent of the schools shows that there are 39 defective children in Benton county. Twelve of these are classed as feeble-minded, four are epileptic, six are crippled, six more are suffering from the result of infantile paralysis, four have cleft palates, two are deaf, and two are Mongolian idiots.
Fourteen of the defectives are able to attend the public schools. Eighteen are kept at home, and the remaining seven are in private or state institutions.
Parents of feeble-minded children, who are unable to care for them properly, may receive financial help from the county, thru the county commissioners, in transporting them to the State Custodial school and other state institutions.
