Ordered, That the thanks of this House be expressed to the Hon. WILLIAM C. JARVIS, for the dignified, able, and impartial manner in which he has discharged the duties of Speaker: and that we congratulate that Hon. gentleman that it has fallen to his lot to preside in the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at a period when the prospect before us is for the first time for many years a unanimity and harmony in the great State elections, believing, as this House does, that the faithful and unexceptionable discharge of the Speaker's duty, has conduced with other considerations to this happy result.
To which the Hon. Speaker made an appropriate reply.
The bill to provide payment to the County of Worcester, for the use of the House of Correction, was referred to the next session of the General Court.

SATURDAY, FEB. 26.
The committee on the Pay Roll, reported their Roll, amounting to $20,558, and it was therefore ordered that His Honor the Lieut. Governor, with the advice of Council, be requested to draw his Warrant on the Secretary for the payment to the members of the House of Representatives the sums set against their names respectively.
The Secretary came in with a Message from His Honor the Lieut. Governor, informing the Legislature that the Executive had approved of one hundred and fourteen acts, passed by the General Court at their Session, the titles of which he read, and that it was His Honor's pleasure by and with the consent of Council, and at the request of both branches of the Legislature, to prorogue them to the Tuesday next preceding the last Wednesday of May next.
In consequence of the disagreement of the two Houses relative to the Tax Bill, the same was not passed, and therefore there will be no State Tax raised for the year 1825.
The bill to raise $75,000, did not provide for the reimbursement, by the respective towns, of the money taken from the public Treasury for their Representatives' pay last June session. The committee of the Senate introduced an amendment to that effect. This was accepted in the Senate, but the House refused to concur.
