Full Text

I Have heard a Gentleman of the first distinction among us, who has lately manifested a noble spirit, is determined to shut up his Store the first of November, the Day appointed to seal our slavery: I would propose that the whole town should follow this good example, and that the Ministers of the Gospel be requested to propose to their respective Congregations, that, that Day be set apart for a Day of Prayer, as by their general joining it will make it equal to an appointment by authority; for at this time, and on this occasion, our fram is not disposed to join in any thing so much for the good of the People, and so contrary to the schemes of the base few who warmly desire to complete our ruin.-Should this proposal be accepted, it would be commendable for the clergy to be very earnest in prayer for the removal of these oppressions, and that we all deeply humble ourselves before Almighty God for the enormousness of our Sins, which has justly exposed us to his righteous displeasure, and rendered us obnoxious to his heavy judgments; the heaviest of which o far as relates to this life, is our being made SLAVES.
