Enjoyed by His Playmates Who Locked Him in a Box Car.
JEFFERSONVILLE, IND., May 22.—A few days since Everett Fox, a seventeen-year-old boy of Franklin, Ind., disappeared from home, and, despite the thorough search made by his relatives, no trace of him could be found. An account of his disappearance was given in the papers, and a thorough description of him was also given. Late yesterday afternoon a gentleman in this city was approached by a boy who inquired the way to the P., C. C. & St. L. railroad shops. The gentleman had read a description of the missing boy, and immediately recognized his interlocutor as the one who had disappeared. He inquired the boy's name, and was told that it was Everett Fox, and that his home was in Franklin, Ind. He then stated that while out with friends in that city on Monday afternoon they had climbed into an empty box car standing on a side track. Soon after the other boys said they were going after a drink, and springing out, either from design or thoughtlessly, closed the door after them. Young Fox made several futile efforts to open the door, and soon after the car was

and taken away. Fox, in the meantime, called and shook the door at every stop, but could attract no attention and states that finally he fell asleep from sheer exhaustion. When he awoke the car had stopped, and on Wednesday the car was opened. Fox was by this time almost famished, and on inquiry found that he was in Louisville. He was directed to the "Wayfarers' Rest," where he obtained a meal and lodging, after which he wandered around and finally came to this city. His mother was telegraphed to, who immediately wired back to send the boy home on the train going north at eight o'clock last evening, which was done.
