A FINE SPEECH
The pity of it is that every farmer in the county didn't hear the splendid address delivered by Mr. Hutcheson from V. P. I. at Farmers' meeting Tuesday. It would be a fine thing if the farmers could get together once a month and swap views and have such talks as Mr. Hutcheson made.
The high spots of Mr. Hutcheson's address were: more rigid economy, cooperative buying and selling. Mr. Hutcheson emphasized the absolute necessity of cutting out extravagance on the part of the farmer. He said that farmers were buying too many automobiles. And when he made this statement he looked the writer squarely in the eye.
I agree exactly with what Mr. Hutcheson had to say about the farmer buying too many automobiles. If they would buy Fords and bank the difference there would be less talk about hard times.
Figure it out for yourself, Mr. Farmer, whether you should buy an automobile or a Ford and put the difference in fertilizer, clover seed, better implements and bull calves.
