The heart of the nation goes out to the city of Jacksonville, Florida, in its dire distress, brought on by the horrible fire that made ten thousand people homeless and destroyed property to the value of fifteen millions of dollars. Already proffers of substantial assistance have come from all sections and all classes—messages that go a long way toward lightening the burden that has fallen like a pall on this fair gem of the south-land. It is another exemplification of the fact that the people of the United States can always be depended upon to do the right thing at the right time.
