Third Day's Proceedings—Appropriations for County Poor House—Coal Oil Inspector's Bond Reduced
The County Court met this morning at half past ten o'clock. A quorum being announced, the first order of business was a motion introduced and concurred in, directing the Chairman of the Court to get the opinion of the Attorney General and County Attorney as to the power and authority of the County Court to borrow money to pay in cash all applications of the Court for current expenses for 1875.
W. M. James was appointed by the court as an officer to wait upon the Grand Jury of the Bartlett Court.
One or two petitions for the renewal of Barbour Lewis warrants were granted.
On motion of Esquire H. Irby the action of the court requiring a bond of $10,000 from the coal oil inspector was reconsidered and the bond fixed at $5000.
W. H. Rhea, the inspector, then came forward and gave the required bond, with W. R. Lucas, W. A. Goodman and S. R. Clarke as bondsmen.
A motion was introduced and passed authorizing the Chairman of the Court to issue warrants to the amount of $7000 to defray the expenses of the county poor-house.
The Court then adjourned for dinner.
