FOR THE HERALD.
TO THE PUBLIC.

After a careful examination of my position, with regard to strength, as a candidate for the office of Sheriff of Grant county, I have concluded to withdraw from the present canvass.

I take this opportunity to thank my friends throughout the county, for their kind and generous exertions in my behalf, and to assure them that my decision in this matter has been influenced solely by the belief that my present conduct will secure their usual approbation.

THOMAS J. TAYLOR.
