We have copied two articles from the Richmond papers, in relation to the seventeen year Locusts, which both journals have prophesied will make their appearance this year, and we have likewise seen several paragraphs in our exchanges in relation to the expected appearance of these insects. In none of them, however, have we seen a reference to the year 1834, which was "Locust year," as also was 1817. If they really came from the ground in 1826 and in 1809 and in 1792, as stated by the Richmond Whig, in such great numbers, how comes it they "lost their reckoning," and appeared in 1817, and again in 1834? We have been much surprised that their resurrection nine years ago, has not yet been noticed, for they filled the air in this quarter with their music, which we had supposed, was within the recollection of every body. There is a tradition concerning them that they descend for half the period of 17 years, and ascend during the other half. How true this may be as well as the prophecy that this is Locust year, let future new ones determine.
