Ratisbon, April 4--As there is now no expectation of ever hearing from Hornemann, who undertook, about ten years since, to travel into the interior of Africa, and who has undoubtedly perished, a young German of the name of Gottengen, is about to set off, under the patronage of several wealthy English gentlemen, upon a tour into the western part of the interior of Africa. He is about twenty and some odd years of age, and has acquired all the knowledge that is necessary for this undertaking; among other things, he understands the Arabic language. He had inured his body to all kinds of hardships and fatigue by traveling on foot through Germany and Switzerland; and has habituated himself to eat raw flesh, and even insects. His plan is to join one of the caravans of merchants which go from Mogadore to Timbuctoo.
