The Public Invited to Visit the Schools All of This Week.
This is the week set apart by the board of education, and so announced by the superintendent, for the opening of the schools to the general inspection of the public, and a general invitation to that effect was issued through the columns of the daily newspapers.
So far the attendance of the public at the exercises of the schools has not been marked. In fact, the teachers have been able to continue their usual work with slight interruption from visitors. The board of education, the superintendent, the teachers and the children are anxious that the public and the patrons of schools, especially, should attend and acquaint themselves with the daily work of the schools.
Friday will be devoted to speeches, recitations and similar exercises, and a large attendance is anticipated, but this is all flowers and glitter, froth and foam, so to speak, and gives no idea of the real work of the schools.
