NORTH CAROLINA-The annual election takes place in this State on the 5th of next month. The Whig papers speak in terms of great confidence of our certain success, by a large majority. The Raleigh Register says-"No excitement has been created, no bugle blast blown to arouse the feelings of the people, or mislead their judgements.-- Everything has been calm and every body left to their own unbiased inclination. Our candidates are well known and duly appreciated, and we hazard but little in the assertion, that out of nine members in the next Congress, to which North Carolina is entitled, the Whigs will elect seven. In the last Congress, they only had three out of nine. We are in receipt of letters from various quarters, indicative of the state of feeling in the several districts. We were satisfied before, but these evidences are doubly confirmatory of the conclusion at which we arrived."

Our private advices are equally encouraging. A gentleman formerly in Congress from the 5th District expresses his firm belief that Gen. McKay, the old locofoco who has been at the head of the Finance Committee of the House for several years, will be defeated in the strongest loco district in the State. There is an able and popular Whig running against him, and he has a locofoco competitor beside.
