A LITTLE MISSIONARY COLLECTOR.
"A mother" has furnished the following account of what one of her children has done in collecting money for missions:
"Some more than a year ago, some mission cards were left at our house. Last winter, while most of the family were at church, our little son, then not six years old, found one of the cards and presented it to me, asking me to give something for the missionary cause. On my replying that I had already given what I could, he plead for one cent, till I was induced to give him something. When the rest of the family came home, he presented his card to them, and solicited aid for poor heathen children. He went out several times with his card, to ask for aid for the cause from those with whom he was acquainted. Some sneered at him, and said hard things, but he bore them quite patiently. On being asked what he would do for the heathen, he concluded to plant a piece of corn, and give the avails of half his crop to the heathen, which is doing much more than most others are willing to do."
Though living in a country place, he collected three dollars and thirty-three cents, and the sum has been forwarded to the treasury of the Foreign Mission Society. His example is worthy the imitation of all our little readers, and it is hoped that many of them will be as anxious as he is to do something for the cause of missions.
Some one has sent us an account of a donation visit at Holderness, to which he forgot to subscribe his name. He will please forward it.
The letter of our N. Y. correspondent, which we promised to publish in this paper, is crowded out. It will be just as good another week.
