Sunday morning the pulpits of the Baptist and Trinity Methodist churches were filled by visiting ministers, in accordance with previous announcements.
The Rev. B. E. Kertchman, a converted Russian Jew, spoke at Trinity church to a large audience. Mr. Kertchman, since his conversion to Christianity, has devoted his life to delivering the message of Christ among the Gentiles. He is a member of the Presbyterian church, but conducts services in any Protestant or Gentile house of worship. His talk was very interesting Sunday morning. At the conclusion of the service, the pastor, Rev. D. A. Phillips, asked for a special offering for Mr. Kertchman's work, and a nice sum was presented to him for this purpose.
At the Baptist church Sunday morning, the Rev. J. M. Sullivan, of St. Matthews, spoke, while the local Baptist pastor, the Rev. J. B. Caston, spoke to Mr. Sullivan's congregation in St. Matthews. Mr. Sullivan spoke on the joy of the Christian life, and delivered a splendid and most inspiring sermon.
Sunday evening union services were held at the grammar school with the Baptist congregation, at which time the Trinity pastor, the Rev. Mr. Phillips, delivered one of his usually pleasing and inspirational sermons, using as his subject, "Does it pay to be a Christian?"
