MILES KENT COUNTY
Yesterday, took the first step toward State Highway Department, taking over nearly 100 roads miles into State highways by its total length estimated at 225 miles. The proposal in the newspapers.
Placing advertisements announcing roads, in accordance with chapter 29, Laws of Delaware, may be taken over by the State Highway Department one year from publication of the list. According to State Highway Department there are about 75 miles of roads in New Castle county, about 75 in Kent and about 100 miles in Sussex on the list. Among the important roads in New Castle county which the department recommends be taken over by the State are the Lancaster Pike; the DuPont-Newark road; the Centreville to Perry's Tavern Road; the Coastal Highway from the Wilmington city line to the Pennsylvania State line; the Summit Bridge to Newark Road; Harvey Road to Naaman's Road; the road from Brandywine Sanitarium to Lincoln Highway; the road from Adam's dam to Thompson's Bridge; the Loveville School to Millboro Road, and the Creek Road from Newark to the Pennsylvania State line. One road which officials have mentioned as desirable, but which is not included, is the Concord Pike, Talleyville to the Pennsylvania State line. Important roads in the Kent county list are: King's Highway, Dover; the Milford road, which has been graded; the Tub Mill Road; the connection between the main highway south of Farmington, and the Farmington-Andrewsville Road. In Sussex county, the Lewes-Rehoboth Road, the Frankford to Dagsboro Road; the Shaftox Road; the Lincoln Highway; Milford-Rehoboth Road; the Georgetown-Laurel-Millsboro Road to Spicer's Mill; the Seaford to Bridgeville Road; the Ellendale to Lewes Beach Road, to Argo are mentioned as being important.
