That distinguished Statesman and Patriot, the Hon. RICHARD-HENRY LEE, Esq: of the Commonwealth of Virginia, having resigned his Seat in the Senate of the United States, the House of Delegates of the Commonwealth above-mentioned, passed on the 27th Inst. the following grateful and just Resolution :
"RESOLVED Unanimously, That the Speaker be requested to communicate to RICHARD-HENRY LEE, Esq: the high Sense entertained, by his Country, of the Services rendered, by him through the Course of a long Life, so usefully devoted to the Public Interest: to express the Regret felt by this House, at hearing that he is compelled by the Infirmities of Age, to retire from Public Life ; and their sincere Wish, that he may, in the private Scene to which he is returning, yet, long experience those Enjoyments attendant on the Consciousness of a faithful Discharge of Duty ; and that he may be as happy as he is respected."
The Hon. JOHN TAYLOR, Esq: is elected to succeed the Hon. RICHARD-HENRY LEE, Esq, in the Senate of the United States.
