DARING ATTEMPT on the Secretary of State's Office, By a JACOBIN.

On the night of the 10th inst. a most daring attempt was made on the Secretary of State's Office, in the city of Washington, at present kept in the large building intended for the Treasury Department-- The villain entered, it is supposed, by one of the windows, broke open the desks and stole about one hundred and fifty dollars, which belonged to one of the gentlemen in the office. Their object appears to have been money, as none of the public documents are missing--No traces have yet been discovered of the perpetrator.
