Democrats Endorse Hunt Ashurst and Douglas in Primary
PHOENIX, Ariz., Sept. 12.—Incumbent Democrats of the principal offices in Arizona will present a massed front to the Republicans seeking their seats as a result of yesterday's State-wide primary election. Gov. W. P. Hunt, Senator Henry F. Ashurst and Congressman Lewis D. Douglas were all renominated. Their Republican opponents will be Judge John Phillips for Governor, former Senator Ralph H. Cameron for Senator and Guy Axford for Congressman.
Three-fifths of the 93 precincts gave the following results:
For Senator—Democrats: Ashurst, incumbent, 13,351; C. Rutherford, 3,966.
Republicans: Cameron, 4,346; Stewart, 2,608.
For Governor—Democrats: Hunt, incumbent, 7,686; James Kerby, 4,755.
Republicans: John Phillips, 3,619; John Udall, 2,124.
For Congress—Douglas, incumbent, Democrat, and Guy Axford were unopposed for the nominations.
