Viewpoint
Sleek, in their comfortable and
lucrative jobs of prestige, appoint-
ive or otherwise, not wanting to
disturb the status quo of the
powers that be who put them
where they are, the nice Negroes
who are quite respectable people,
who are often referred to bene-
volently as "good Negroes"
by
Mister George always invariable
answer:
"The time is not ripe. We must
not embarrass anyone by making
such demands. This is not the
proper approach. The Negro is not
ready for his freedom. Property
will depreciate if those Negroes
move in that neighborhood. Ne-
groes would not take care of the
homes if the government built
for them. He has to be educated
first, etc. etc."
