Full Text

A large force of Boers under the command of Gen. Prinsloo surrendered to the English last week. It is reported that the Boers held on to their positions even when there was no military reason for so doing and when they finally saw that they could hold out no longer tried to make the best terms possible. They attempted to exact from the British terms admitting of their keeping their horses and arms and allowing them to return to their homes. This was denied and it is claimed that many of the leaders with their men escaped by leaving the Free State commands to make the best terms they could. This must about finish the resistance to the English in the Free State and there will be no opposition to their march eastward along the Delagoa Bay railroad.

The Boers are said to be fighting in rags and barefoot and in many cases suffering from hunger, and every conceivable privation and it does not seem that they can hold out much longer although Pres. Kruger does not show signs of weakening as yet.
