NISEI SCOUTS
PLAY HOSTS IN
HONOR COURT
Three Nisei boy scouts from Troop 53 were among those receiving honors at the District Court of Honors held last Friday evening in the Japanese Baptist Church.
Hiroshi Hasegawa, assistant scoutmaster of Troop 53, received merit badge award in swimming and first aid, while George Hirano and Bobby Namba were recipients of the second class awards.
Troops 53, the only Nisei scout organization in the city, was the host to various neighborhood boy scouts, which included Negro and Caucasian troops.
The Rev. Emery Andrews of Japanese Baptist Church is the scoutmaster, with Clarence Arai serving as chairman of the troop committee.
Others on the troop committee are Grant Beppu, Dave Hirahara and Joe Hirabayashi.
All troops present at the Court of Honors received Circus Awards for participating in the annual Boy Scouts Circus held last April.
