Full Text
As far as our information at present extends, various parts of Maryland and Virginia have been much injured in the destruction of their small grain, &c. by the caterpillar. On a few farms in Maryland, we are told, that almost every green thing has been destroyed by this devouring reptile—In our neighbouring county, Jefferson, some injury has been sustained, but not to a very great amount; Frederick county has suffered more than Jefferson; We have made enquiries from almost every part of this county, and find that Berkeley is almost exempt from their ravages, no injury worth mentioning has been felt by our farmers. The present appearances are very flattering—and we trust that a few days will put it out of the power of those reptiles to injure us.
