The only thing that has kept Morehouse out of the throne room in the football and basketball campaigns of the present season is the fact that the Maroon lads have been able to murder everybody in sight save Alabama. Only Alabama stopped the marauding horde last November when football was King of things. Only Alabama was able to halt the Morehouse basketball team short of a championship this winter. Morehouse, for years a master of Alabama on the grid and court, finds herself barred from top rank by the sons of the Yellowhammer. This is most distressing business.
In the late thirties Morehouse has not sported a football crown since 1920, or a basketball crown since the best war days of the early twenties. This is, of course, a long time this troublesome times of not enjoying winning much more often than that.
Alabama has a shining gold on the two emphasized sports in the Southland. The championship flags for basketball and football fly in most places on the Alabama campus at Montgomery.
Alabama come to town tomorrow Saturday to clash with Morehouse in a dual track meet at the magnificent track, in back of Atlanta University. The Alabama boys are sure to lose.
Aside from the fact that Morehouse seems to have a better track team, the Alabamas must labor under the double strain of operating on a 100 per cent complete track. The ideal conditions may injure the visitor more than the flying feet of Curry or McKibben.
Of this situation and trounce the Trenholm Saturday afternoon.
Once they get the correct Alabama attitude, they may also cop in football or basketball.
Alabama is building up her resources in track in order that the gold and black may effect a complete spread over a couple of activities in the intercollegiate south. From this corner it looks like the Alabamas may give up the idea after the date here.
