from Baltimore for N. Orleans. and received from Capt. H the following particulars of a most barbarous and brutal piracy.

On the 15th of May, about 11 A. M. the Aurilla was fired upon by two piratical schrs. armed with one nine pounder, two sixes, one pivot gun each and manned with about 40 to 50 men each. Off Key Sal hove to and was boarded, beat with swords and pistols, and one of the passengers was hung up at the yard arm and then dropped into the water, apparently lifeless. The vessel was plundered of every thing of any considerable value. The passengers were robbed of all their clothes, watches, &c. except what they had on when captured. The women on board were treated with the most horrid brutality. After plundering every thing they possibly could and committing these acts of savage brutality, they ordered the captain to cut the cable and be off about 10 o'clock the next morning.

Brigs Hiram, Weeks of Newport; Trader of Boston, and Busy of R Island, were taken the same day, anchored near the Aurilla, all robbed and all released about the same time.

The A was robbed of all her papers; as well as those which belonged to the brig as those of the captain and passengers. Capt. H. stated that on the 7th he fell in with the U. S. schr. Shark, and received a lieut. on board to proceed to N. Orleans, Capt. H. apprehending difficulty on his arrival, from having no papers. The Shark shaped her course for Key Sal, to look after the pirates.
