FRIDAY, AUGUST 21, 1801.
We are informed that upon the return to the Navy Department of the proceedings of the court of enquiry in the case of Captain GEORGE LITTLE, a court martial has been ordered by the Secretary of the Navy to investigate and decide on the charges exhibited against Captain Little: and also that another court martial has at the same time been ordered by him to investigate and decide on charges exhibited by Captain Little against one of his Lieutenants, purporting that this Lieutenant had aided and assisted the French officers of the Berceau in concealing and embezzling money and other property belonging to the prize. These courts martial, it is understood, are to consist of thirteen navy officers, of high rank and respectability, because it has been conceived that the honor of the country, as well as of the navy, called for a solemn investigation and determination upon accusations of so atrocious a nature. It is, however, devoutly to be wished by every American, that the charges may not be established in either case.
