FAMILY OF FIVE
BIKES TO SEATTLE
FROM FLA. TOWN

SEATTLE, May 20.-(A)-On a bicycle rig built for five, Mr. and Mrs. R. K. Parker, Winterhaven, Fla., and their three small children rested today after a six-months, 3,429-mile trip across the country.

They left Winterhaven November 13.

Parker said that while on a war job in Alaska he passed through here and wanted to return to the northwest. To his objections that "if it weren't for the kids. we could go on bicycles," his pert wife replied: "Heck, we can do it with the kids."

He bought two bicycles and attached them side by side with a rigid frame of iron bars. A supporting canvas between held seats for Dick, 8, Vonnell, 2. and Dwight, 1. They shipped their extra clothes and baggage about 200 miles ahead of them, and averaged 45 to 50 miles a day.

In Texas, an automobile wrecked their rig when it was parked and in Los Angeles their second set of bicycles wore out and they bought two more.
