Meets at Wilmington Today. Will Consider the Building of an Orphanage.
The Raleigh delegates to the seventh annual State Council meeting of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics, of North Carolina, will leave for Wilmington today. The opening session will be held in the court house this afternoon.
Mayor Waddell will deliver the welcome address and the response in behalf of the council will be by Hon. Spencer Blackburn, Representative of the Eighth District in Congress. State Councilor C. B. Webb, of Statesville, will preside and about 250 representatives are expected to be in attendance. One of the important considerations of the meeting is to be the building of an orphanage at some central point in the State for the care of children of deceased members. Several towns in the State have already offered sites for the building and competition along that line will be lively if the council decides to carry out the plans in this respect during the year.
