Passengers Escape in Sideswiping; Crews Leap to Safety.
EAST ST. LOUIS, Ills., May 30.-(United Press)-A wreck was reported on the Pennsylvania railroad off at Mulberry Grove, near Greenville, at 2 p. m. today.
According to the report received, a west bound freight train sideswiped passenger train No. 30. The St. Louis to New York 24 hour train, east bound.
Both engines were derailed. The crews, it is said, escaped to safety. All of the passengers also escaped injury, it was understood.
Due to the double derailment, traffic was delayed at Mulberry Grove for more than six hours, according to a local railroad man.
Pennsylvania officials at St. Louis, reached this evening, denied any knowledge of the wreck.
TERRE HAUTE, Ind., May 30.-(United Press)-The New York express passenger train, St. Louis to New York, was wrecked this afternoon at Willow Grove, Illinois, east of St. Louis, according to reports to Pennsylvania officials here.
The train was running as a doubleheader and both engines turned over while going at a rate of 50 miles an hour.
While first reports were meagre, it was known several persons are injured.
