Mr. Hubert W. Pearce, Principal,
Zion-Benton Township High School:
We are happy to advise you that the former pupils of your school, herewith named, are being included in the current University of Illinois Honors Day program.
"Honors Day," as you may recall, was established here in 1925, and our twenty-fourth Annual Convocation will be held in the University Auditorium, April 30, 1948, at 10:45 a. m.
The University takes this occasion to give public recognition to those students whose scholarship ranks them in the first ten per cent of their class. Their friends are cordially invited to be present. For your information there are three types of honors awarded as follows:
(a) Class Honors are awarded those students ranking in the upper ten per cent of their respective classes during the first two semesters immediately preceding the current semester with the exception that freshman honors are based solely on records for the first semester's work.
(b) College Honors are awarded those students whose grades rank them in the upper three per cent of their college.
In order to accommodate the friends and relatives of the students being honored who are unable to attend the ceremony, the exercises will be broadcast over the University Radio Station, WILL, 580 Kilocycles.
Very truly yours,
J. Nelson Spaeth,
Chairman Honors Day Committee.
