Sure I've had the bad luck to be broke. Slept under a rose bush, darn near froze before morning. Put off of freights in the middle of nowhere. Suckered out of my money and clothes by would-be buddies. Fired off of jobs when I had thought that I was sitting pretty. Had the original buildings at Reddy's Corner burn down around me. I got out with a little over $100 in cash, the sox, pants and undershirt that I was wearing, nothing else. Two months later a gasoline stove put me into the hospital for two weeks with second and third degree burns on hands and face. Business associates have left me holding the bag more than once. Hot check artists have left me holding the rubber to the tune of several hundred dollars, etc. etc.
But after what happened all around me last Monday, I think that I'm traveling under a lucky star after all. While everybody around me was blowing away, these old shacks of mine were sitting here shivering. Well, so was I for that matter. But that is about all of the damage that was done. So I still think that I'm traveling under a Lucky Star."
My sincere sympathy goes to all who didn't fare as well as I.
As Always,
"Reddy"
