All scoutmasters of the Boy Scout Troop in Putnam will leave for the Army Training Camps for their annual fifteen days active field duty this week, or early next week.
Second Lieutenant Jerome W. Andrews, Scoutmaster of the troop, will leave August 1, for his training with the O.R.C.
Second Lieutenant Chas. A. Woodward left Sunday, July 25, for his fifteen days active training as assistant supply officer of the Special Troops under Major Darbie.
Lieutenant Woodward is the 1st assistant Scout master of the local troop.
Private Henry Mayotte, 2nd Assistant Scoutmaster, left with the Headquarters Company of the 43rd Division Sunday, July 25, for fifteen days training at Camp Trumbull at Niantic, Connecticut.
During the absence of the scoutmasters the troop will be in charge of Commissioner Stanley F. Bacon and Scribe Niel J. Bulger. Scribe Bulger will have as his assistants his Patrol Leaders, who are all well grounded in the principles of scouting.
At the last meeting Scribe Bulger reported that all but ten of the present number of boys will soon be registered as Second Class Scouts, a rank which takes just one year of training to successfully complete.
The members of the troop will leave Saturday, August 7, for a week-end hike to Alexander's Lake, under the direction of Commissioner Bacon.
