We hear from Black-Point, a part of Lyme, that on the 10th Instant, one Jeremiah Quinley of that Place, having had some (not very pleasant) Words with his Wife, discharged a Musket loaded with Shot, into her Back, as he was making her Escape from him; but fortunately, at that Instant Six Gentlemen, one a Doctor, came on Shore from a Vessel near the Place where the Affair was acting, and while the Doctor was employed in dressing the Woman's Wounds the others seized and secured the Man; but as he then Seemed unfit for Correction, they kept him tied to a Tree about three Hours, and then giving him three or four Hundred Lashes with a Whip prepared for that Purpose, on his promising Reformation, they left him to consider the Justice of their Administration, and pursued their Voyage.
