Oklahoma Wife Wants One and Can't Get It.
HUSBAND'S CAUSE GOOD
But He Stubbornly Refuses to Pray for Relief.
Stillwater, O. T., May M.-(Special.)-A divorce proceeding was settled here which had a peculiar feature in it, in as much as the wife, who sued for divorce, was denied that privilege, which would have been readily granted the husband had he filed a petition, which he would not do. Mr. and Mrs. Literal have been married for thirty years. The testimony revealed that Mr. Literal had not given her cause. On the other hand, it was shown that Literal had grounds for action had he cared to exercise himself along those lines. Mrs. Literal testified that the marital trouble began last fall when she pasted him over the head with a stick of wood while he was eating dinner. She also testified that she hit him with a spade, and also "brushed him off" with a buggy whip. Mr. Literal testified that his wife wasn't an angel, as she insisted on standing up for their children, who were not conducting themselves with decorum. This course disturbed his peace of mind. The court refused to grant a divorce.
