Death Unmasks:

ILLICIT RELATION BETWEEN WOMEN

Breaks Pledge on Relations With Man

A bizarre and sordid relationship which had two young women pledge to kill the other if one was intimate with a man was tragically revealed last week upon fatal shooting of the "unfaithful" one.

Dead is Marion Ware, 21, of 1033 Watson, who was pronounced dead on arrival at Receiving Hospital as victim of shock and hemorrhage as result of a gunshot wound of the chest, lungs and heart.

Held for investigation of murder is Leatrice Calloway, 24, of the Watson address.

Police reported that both women started to have abnormal sex relations about six months ago, and shortly afterwards both pledged to kill the other if one had a man sexually.

On the night of Nov. 1 police reported blood on buttons with Otto Bolding, who was rooming in the women's apartment where Leatrice was not home.

About 1 p.m. the next day Leatrice got a rifle, held it against the living room stove, went where Marion was washing dishes and asked her about remembering their pledge.

When Marion denied remembrance of the pledge, Leatrice got the rifle and asked Marion to move into the living room, upon finding that she could not raise it to her shoulder in the small kitchen, then fired the fatal bullet.

Bolding told police that he left the house about noon to go to the store and upon returning (Continued on page 3)

About twenty minutes later found Marion lying at the front door.

He added that both carried on an unnatural relationship.

Leatrice, described as wearing black and white checkered men's pants, maroon shirt and blue baseball cap, was apprehended several hours later at her former address at 13508 Lumpkin.

Police records show that Leatrice Calloway was arrested for investigation of common prostitution on Feb. 2 but was released.
