Full Text
We respectfully invite the next Legislature to discontinue the use of the word "disannex" from every paper that receives its sanction, and employ the word "sever;" Thus "Resolved, &c., That the farm of John Snyder be and hereby is severed from Waterville, in the county of Grafton, and annexed to Sandwich, in the county of Carroll." And it would not be a bad plan for future Legislatures to employ some gentleman of their number, of fair literary taste, and who can employ the English language in a perspicuous manner, to put into proper form all bills and resolves which are to become laws, so that the sovereign people can understand them. Some bills are very clumsily drawn, and go straight through both bodies, without their grammatical blunders and unintelligible phraseology undergoing any change.
