Full Text

Antioch College.

This institution, located at Yellow Springs, Green Co., O., has completed the appointment of its faculty. Horace Mann, who has been elected president, it is said will accept. Six other professors have also been appointed. A hopeful indication of progress and educational improvement, is the appointment of a lady as one of the professors and an equal member of the faculty. Miss Pennell, of West Newton, Massachusetts, has received the appointment of Professor of Natural Sciences. She is said to be, perhaps, the most accomplished instructress in the country. This innovation with the introduction of female students to the regular college course, will go far to remove the evils which have heretofore attended a collegiate education. Whether females are to receive the benefit of Antioch College, we are not informed. Though we should expect nothing less from the appointment noticed above.
