DAWSON MEN PRESENTED WITH FINE JERSEY BULL
Is of Champion Stock, and Gift of An Atlanta Man.
Messrs. A. J. Hill and W. G. Mercer will soon receive a fine Jersey bull calf about two weeks old, the gift of W. J. Stoddard, of Atlanta, who, on numerous occasions, has been on hunts with the two Dawson men.
In his letter to Mr. Hill in which he made the offer of the calf Mr. Stoddard said:
"Knowing you to be a lover of high bred stock I have a young bull calf, born about a week ago, out of a very fine Raleigh registered Jersey cow that has taken prizes wherever shown (the sire of the calf is His Majesty's Noble Sultan, the undefeated champion bull), which I would like to present to you with my compliments—to be used in and around Dawson to breed better cattle."
Mr. Stoddard stated that if preferred he would give a heifer calf of the same sire and of a dam whose sire brought $25,000 in New York, but it was the bull that was accepted.
The gift to Messrs. Hill and Mercer, and in reality to this whole section, is a valuable one. It should materially raise the standard of Jersey cows in Terrell.
