BABY POEM NO. 13

Tiny babies when they're small
Haven't got a chance at all,
Baby books in modern days
Prod them on in many ways:
"Read to baby nursery rhymes,
Every day, and several times:
Don't be backward! As he plays
Read him sonnets, odes, and lays."
Thus they offer good advice.
Make you try it once or twice--
No one wants a child to laze.
Even in his cradle days:
Still one problem doth beset.
No one tells you how it's met:
While you read, in quite a daze.
Who finds baby when he strays?
