SPRINGFIELD, July 2.

On Friday last was taken up in this town, a person by the name of Selah Hart, belonging to Connecticut. On Thursday he went to Capt. John Porter, of West-Springfield, and agreed to work for him on his farm. He rose early on Friday morning, under pretence of going to mowing; but instead of that, he stole Capt. Porter's watch, two silver table spoons, three silver shoe buckles, a hat, together with sundry other articles, amounting in all to the value of about ten pounds, and then made off with himself. He came as far as this place, when his pursuers overtook and apprehended him—most of the goods which he had stolen were found upon him; after examination had before a justice, he was committed to gaol.
