HALIFAX, March 18.

Friday last a most unfortunate Accident happened here, viz. as Capt. Solomon Phipps of this Town, was on board a Snow of which he was Commander, lying at the End of Messrs. Bourn and Freeman's Wharfe, where he was refitting her for a Voyage, some People on board his Majesty's Ship Argyll firing at some Wild Fowl which were between the two Vessels, Capt. Phipps call'd to them to desist, otherwise they might do some Damage on Shore; but on spying a Loon they again fir'd at it with Ball, which taking the Water near the Fowl, glanc'd and took Capt. Phipps in the Belly near the Navel, and lodg'd in his Body, and altho' immediate Care was taken of him he died the next Morning.
